Orange Is Home to the Stark Museum of Art and Shangri La Gardens

The Stark Museum of Art and Shangri La Botanical Gardens are two cultural institutions in Orange funded by the Nelda C. and H. J. Lutcher Stark Foundation.

Orange has two notable cultural sites funded by the Stark Foundation, a local philanthropic organization. The Stark Museum of Art opened in 1978 and focuses on American Western art from 1800 to 1960. Its collection includes works by John James Audubon, Frederic Remington, and George Caleb Bingham, along with Native American artifacts and rare natural history books.

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center was restored and reopened in 2008. It was originally created by H. J. Lutcher Stark in the 1940s and later revived by the foundation. The gardens hold more than 300 plant species. Both sites sit in the city of Orange and are operated by the Stark Foundation.
