Fort Bend residents who need evacuation help can register with STEAR

People who cannot evacuate on their own during a disaster can register in advance with the State Texas Emergency Assistance Registry.

STEAR stands for State Texas Emergency Assistance Registry. It is a free program for people who need help getting out during a hurricane or other disaster. It is for people with disabilities, older adults, and anyone who cannot easily leave on their own.

To sign up in Fort Bend County, call 2-1-1 or call Fort Bend County Health and Human Services at 281-342-3411. Do not wait for a storm. Register now.

Signing up with STEAR does not promise a rescue. But it helps local and state planners know who may need help. Also make your own evacuation plan.
