Where and how to register your vehicle in Angelina County
Angelina County runs four vehicle registration sub-offices across the county and accepts online renewals — non-commercial vehicles no longer need a separate safety inspection sticker before registering.
As of January 1, 2025, non-commercial vehicles in counties without an emissions testing requirement — including Angelina County — no longer need to pass a separate safety inspection before annual registration. You can renew your registration online, by mail, or in person at one of four county offices.
In-person locations: Lufkin at 211 E. Shepherd Ave. (Monday–Friday); Diboll at 211 N. Temple (Mondays); Huntington at 205 Gibson (Wednesdays–Thursdays); Zavalla at 134 Warren St. (Tuesdays). The main office mailing address is P.O. Box 1344, Lufkin, TX 75902. Online renewals require a debit or credit card.
If you are new to Texas, your vehicle must pass a state safety inspection before you can register it, and a $90 new-resident fee applies. Title transfers cost $28 plus 6.25% motor vehicle sales tax. Driving with expired registration after a 5-day grace period can result in a 20% late penalty if a ticket is issued. Check txdmv.gov and the county tax office page for current fees and any program updates.
