Vehicle Registration
Kendall County vehicles skip emissions testing at registration
Kendall County is not one of the 17 Texas counties that require an emissions test. Registering your car here involves fewer steps.
Texas requires emissions tests only in 17 specific counties. Those counties are mostly in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas. Kendall County is not on that list.
As of January 2025, non-commercial vehicles in Texas no longer need a safety inspection before registration renewal either.
You renew your vehicle registration through the Kendall County Tax Assessor-Collector's office or online through TxDMV.
If you move to Kendall County from a county like Travis, you no longer need to pass an emissions test. Check TxDMV.gov for the current renewal steps.
