How to Renew Your Vehicle Registration in Dallas County

Dallas County residents renew registration through the Texas DMV after completing a required emissions inspection.

First, take your vehicle to a licensed Texas inspection station for an emissions test. Once it passes, you can renew your registration online at txdmv.gov, by mail, or in person at the Dallas County Tax Office at 500 Elm Street, Suite 3300.

Your renewal month stays the same every year — it is fixed from when the vehicle was first registered. After you renew, a new registration sticker goes on your windshield. Keep your current insurance card in the car. You may need it at the inspection station. If you are unsure when to renew, check the date on your current sticker or look it up at txdmv.gov.
