Chambers County Is Prime Waterfowl Country

Chambers County's coastal marshes along Trinity Bay draw large numbers of ducks and geese each fall and winter. It is one of the top waterfowl hunting areas on the Texas coast.

Interstate 10 splits Chambers County into two TPWD duck zones. South of I-10, duck season usually opens in early November and runs into late January. North of I-10, dates shift a little. Both zones allow up to 6 ducks per day. You need a Federal Duck Stamp, a Texas hunting license, a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement, and HIP certification.

Alligator hunting is allowed in Chambers County. The limit is one per tag during the September season. White-tailed deer season follows the North Zone calendar. The bag limit is 4 deer, with no more than 2 bucks.

Some areas have firearm rules. It is illegal to fire a pistol or rifle across Wallisville Reservoir or Lake Anahuac. Rules can change from year to year. Always check the TPWD Outdoor Annual for current Chambers County rules before you go out.
