Two Different Offices Handle Your Property Tax

Washington County has two separate offices for property taxes, and knowing which one does what saves you a wasted trip.

The Washington County Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It does not collect the taxes. Their office is at 1301 Niebuhr St. in Brenham. They also handle exemptions like the homestead exemption.

The Washington County Tax Assessor-Collector handles vehicle registrations. That office does not collect property taxes. Their office is at 100 E. Main St., Suite 100, Brenham. If you have a question about your bill, start with the appraisal district. If you need to register a car, go to the tax office.
