Caddo National Grasslands Offers Hunting and Fishing in Fannin County
The Caddo National Grasslands Wildlife Management Area covers about 16,000 acres in Fannin County and is open for hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.
The WMA has two units near Bonham. The Bois d'Arc Creek Unit covers 13,360 acres. The Ladonia Unit adds 2,780 more acres. Both are open year-round. The area is about 15 to 20 miles northeast of Bonham.
Hunters can pursue white-tailed deer, waterfowl, squirrels, doves, and quail. An Annual Public Hunting Permit from TPWD is required. Some hunts need a separate draw permit. Anglers can fish Coffee Mill Lake and Lake Davy Crockett for crappie, catfish, largemouth bass, and bluegill. Boat ramps and restrooms are on-site. Contact TPWD at 903-905-2207 for current rules.
