Interstate 20 (IH-20) cuts through Midland County and splits it into two dove zones with different season dates.

North of IH-20 is the North Zone. It opens September 1 and runs through November 9, 2025. There is also a late segment from December 19, 2025 through January 7, 2026.

South of IH-20 is the Central Zone. It also opens September 1 but closes October 26, 2025. Its late segment runs December 12, 2025 through January 14, 2026.

The daily bag limit is 15 doves total across all dove species combined. Dove hunters need a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement added to their hunting license. They also must complete HIP certification — a short federal survey program for migratory bird hunters.

Most dove hunting in Midland County is on private farm and ranch land. Know which side of IH-20 you are hunting on before the season opens.
