Upland Bird Hunting
Dove and Quail Hunting in Guadalupe County
Guadalupe County sits near the boundary between dove hunting zones, and quail season runs from November through February.
The county straddles I-10, which is the dividing line between the Central and South dove zones. The daily limit is 15 white-winged, mourning, and white-tipped doves combined. To hunt doves, you need a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and HIP Certification. HIP stands for Harvest Information Program — it is a free federal registry for migratory bird hunters.
Quail season runs from November 1 through late February. The daily bag limit is 15 birds. An Upland Game Bird Endorsement is required. Check tpwd.texas.gov for exact dates and any zone-specific rules before you hunt.
