Homestead Exemption
Homestead Exemption: Save on Your Tax Bill
If you own and live in your home, you can apply for a homestead exemption that lowers the taxable value of your property.
Texas law lets homeowners lower the taxed value of their main home. This is called a homestead exemption. A lower taxed value means a lower tax bill. You can only claim one homestead at a time. When you apply, the address on your driver's license or state ID must match the property address.
Apply online or in person at the Guadalupe Appraisal District. The exemptions team can be reached at exemptions@guadalupead.org or (830) 303-3313. Check the GAD website for the current filing deadline — deadlines can change.
