There Is No Public Hunting Land in Ector County

All hunting in Ector County takes place on private land — hunters must have written or verbal permission from the landowner.

Unlike some Texas counties, Ector County has no state-managed public hunting areas. There are no TPWD wildlife management areas or state parks with hunting access here. All hunting takes place on private ranch and farm land.

Texas law requires that hunters get landowner permission before entering private land. Hunting without permission is criminal trespass. If you are new to the area and looking for access, the TPWD Outdoor Annual lists Managed Land Deer Program (MLDP) properties, though these are also privately owned. Contact the TPWD Odessa-area game warden if you have questions about local access.
