Flood Planning

Guadalupe County Is Part of a State Flood Planning Region

The Texas Water Development Board oversees regional flood planning for the Guadalupe area, which includes Guadalupe County.

After major flooding in recent decades, Texas set up regional flood planning groups across the state. These groups find the biggest flood risks and make plans to reduce them. Guadalupe County falls in Region 11, the Guadalupe Flood Planning Region, overseen by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB).

The plans point out which communities, roads, and properties face the highest flood risk. Planning is still ongoing. But the most useful step for any home buyer is simple: look up the specific property address on the FEMA Flood Map at msc.fema.gov before you buy.
