Groundwater

The County Has Its Own Groundwater District

The Guadalupe County Groundwater Conservation District regulates wells and helps manage the county's underground water supply.

Most of rural Guadalupe County gets its water from wells drilled into the ground. The Guadalupe County Groundwater Conservation District (GCGCD) issues permits for new wells and keeps track of aquifer health. An aquifer is an underground layer of rock that holds water. The district is part of Groundwater Management Area 13 (GMA 13).

Water demand in the county is projected to nearly double by 2070 as the population grows. If you plan to drill a well, contact the GCGCD first. The district is based in Seguin and can be reached at (830) 379-5969.
