Property Tax
How to Lower Your Property Tax Bill in Limestone County
If you live in the home you own, you can file for a homestead exemption that cuts your taxable property value.
In Texas, the homestead exemption reduces how much of your home's value gets taxed. School districts must take at least $140,000 off the appraised value. Some local taxing units add more on top of that. This can save you real money each year.
You apply with the Limestone County Appraisal District, not the tax office. The address is 303 S. Waco St., Groesbeck. The standard deadline to file is before May 1 of the tax year. Use Form 50-114 from the Texas Comptroller. Check the appraisal district's site or the Comptroller's page for current rules, since exemption amounts can change.
