Hunting
Hunting in Galveston County Is Possible but Mostly on Private Land
Galveston County has regulated hunting seasons for deer, dove, duck, and other species, though most accessible land is private.
Texas Parks and Wildlife regulates all hunting in Galveston County. White-tailed deer have an archery season in fall and a general season running into January. Dove seasons follow the South Zone schedule. Waterfowl, including duck and goose, are also popular in coastal marshes. All hunting requires the right license and, for migratory birds, a federal duck stamp.
There is little public hunting land in the county. Most hunting happens on private ranches and farms. You will need landowner permission. Check tpwd.texas.gov for current season dates, bag limits, and license requirements before heading out — rules change each year.
