Texas requires a hunting license for all hunters 17 and older. On Wildlife Management Area lands run by TPWD, most hunts also need the Annual Public Hunting Permit, called the APH. The APH is sold each year at tpwd.texas.gov.

Hunting on private land in Hunt County follows the landowner's rules. The state hunting license is still required even on private land. Bag limits, season dates, and WMA rules change each year.
