Protest Rights
You can protest your appraisal value each year
Hunt County property owners have the right to protest their appraised value before the Appraisal Review Board if they believe it is too high.
Each spring, Hunt CAD mails a notice of appraised value. You have a limited window to file a protest — typically around May 15 or 30 days after you receive the notice, whichever is later. Check the notice for the exact deadline.
You present your case to the Appraisal Review Board (ARB), an independent panel. Bring evidence: recent sales of comparable properties, a recent appraisal, or repair estimates. The Texas Comptroller publishes a free guide on how to prepare for your hearing.
