Lake Tawakoni sits about 15 miles southeast of Greenville and spans Hunt, Rains, and Van Zandt counties. TPWD describes catfishing as one of the lake's sure bets, with channel and blue catfish abundant and strong runs of striped and hybrid striped bass.

Special catfish limits apply on this lake — check the current TPWD fishing regulations before you go. A valid Texas fishing license is required. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 70 feet, and anglers find striped bass by vertical jigging in open water.
