Appraisal Protest

You Have the Right to Protest Your Property Value in Ector County

If you think the Ector County Appraisal District valued your property too high, Texas law gives you the right to protest — and there is a deadline.

Every year, the Ector County Appraisal District (ECAD) sends property owners a notice of appraised value. If you think your property is valued too high or there is an error, you can file a formal protest with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The ARB is an independent panel that hears disputes.

There is a deadline to file — typically around May 15 or 30 days after the appraisal district mails your notice, whichever is later. Missing the deadline means you lose the right to protest for that year. Check the ECAD website or call 432-332-6834 for the current deadline and protest instructions.
