Property Tax
Two offices handle your property tax in Jackson County
The appraisal district sets your property value; a separate tax office collects the bill.
Jackson County has two offices that deal with property taxes. The Jackson Central Appraisal District (JCAD) decides what your property is worth. A separate office, the Tax Assessor-Collector, sends the bill and takes your payment. These are different offices with different staff.
If you think your value is wrong, you dispute it with JCAD — not the tax office. JCAD is at 404 N. Allen St. in Edna. The Tax Assessor-Collector is at 115 W. Main St., Room 102, also in Edna. Both offices have websites. Check those sites for current deadlines, since protest windows and payment due dates change each year.
