Texas A&M University–Commerce anchors the county's east side
Texas A&M University–Commerce, located in Commerce in eastern Hunt County, is a public university within the Texas A&M System.
Commerce is Hunt County's second-largest city. It sits about 15 miles east of Greenville. Texas A&M University–Commerce is there. The school serves students from across Northeast Texas. It joined the Texas A&M System in 1996.
The university brings jobs and events to the east side of the county. Residents can take classes and attend cultural events. Texas AgriLife Extension also serves Hunt County through the A&M system.
