Public Fishing

Public fishing access at Tawakoni WMA is managed by TPWD

The Tawakoni Wildlife Management Area provides public fishing access along Lake Tawakoni under TPWD rules.

TPWD manages fishing access at the Tawakoni WMA along the shores of Lake Tawakoni. The WMA rules set where and how anglers can reach the water. A valid Texas fishing license is required to fish there.

The full Lake Tawakoni reservoir spans three counties and is open to the public. The state park on the southern shore also has a boat launch. Rules and seasonal restrictions can change. Check the TPWD site for current WMA fishing rules before your trip. Do not rely on last year's information.
